MONSTERS AND FREAKS
MONSTERS AND FREAKS is a double bill of
contrasting styles featuring the ridiculous and the sublime. In Carson Kreitzer’s
turn of the century drama, “Freakshow,” things are changing. The anger of being stared at, trapped, caged,
is at war with the comfort of knowing your place in the universe. But the growing
defiance of the freaks is no act. Will the Dog Faced Woman break her bonds and
sustain the fragile bubble of independence? Can the jaded and broken
ringmaster find redemption through his love for the Woman with No Arms and No
legs?
The scene is a decaying mansion in
Christopher Durang’s “Death Comes to Us All, Mary Agnes.” Our intrepid family,
beset with all manner of problems; conceit, hatred, incest—excuse their
inexcusable behavior. A drawing room
satire laced with biting irony and absurd turns.
